SELL Student Games 2020 are cancelled.

Interview of Competition Manager

Here is Karoliina, our Competition Manager.

Tell a little bit about yourself? How did you get into this project?

I’m a 24-year-old Hospitality Management/ Tourism student. I’ve been involved in many different event projects and now I had the chance to have more responsibility than ever before. I am interested in developing myself to be an better event producer.

What kind of expectations do you have from this project?

I’m excited about this project! Events are ”my thing” and this could be my last school project. We are going to make the best Sell Games ever!

Are all the diciplines already familiar to you or is there something new?

Almost every sport is familiar to me. I’m kind of exciting about mölkky because it’s a new sport in Sell Games and it’s a traditional sport in Finland. Also, mölkky is invented in here!

What are the challenges of being a Competition Manager when the event includes so many different sports?

It’s challenging to choose sports for Sell Games because many sports are interesting but all don’t fit into the competition.

Is Lahti a good environment for this kind of event, are all the venues available or do you need to be inventive?

I think we have an excellent possibility to organize these kinds of competitions. Almost every sport is nearby each other except esport and disc golf which are around 3 km away from the main sports venue.

How would you activate or encourage other students to participate in this project and event?

This kind of projects is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills in practice. I hope that many students join this project. Let’s light the fire together!
